A Defintion of Dyslexia
In the UK the last definition of dyslexia formed part of the Rose Review in 2009. The review gave a definition of dyslexia and recommended that specialist teachers of dyslexia were used to help support those with dyslexia. The Rose definition also helped to inform best practise in dyslexia assessments; however, the definition was not universally accepted. Research over the last 15 years have also led to an increased understanding of dyslexia. The Delphi definition of dyslexia has therefore been decided upon to more accurately describe the learning disorder and to give those struggling with dyslexia the support they need. The image below shows the updated definition and breaks down some of the elements.
